Terms & Conditions
DayHatch is the new name for the app previously published as TripTally. Effective date: October 22, 2026.
DayHatch is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the IRS or any government agency. It is not a tax preparer.
1. Educational use only
DayHatch is provided for informational and educational purposes only. The financial calculations, tax estimates, mileage deductions and other data in the app are approximations and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for tax filing, financial planning or any financial decision.
2. Not tax or financial advice
DayHatch does not provide tax, legal or financial advice, and it is not a tax preparer, CPA or financial advisor. All tax calculations, including self-employment tax, federal and state income tax estimates, quarterly estimated payments and mileage deductions, are estimates only and may not reflect your actual tax liability. Consult a qualified tax professional, CPA or financial advisor before making tax-related or financial decisions.
3. No warranty
DayHatch is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We make no guarantee about the accuracy, reliability, completeness or timeliness of any calculation, data or information the app provides.
4. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, DayHatch, its developers, owners, affiliates and licensors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages arising from your use of the app, including:
- errors or inaccuracies in tax calculations or estimates;
- inaccurate mileage tracking or earnings data;
- financial losses from decisions made using app data;
- data loss, corruption or device malfunction;
- IRS penalties, interest or audit consequences from incorrect filings;
- any reliance on information the app provides.
5. Your responsibility
You are responsible for checking the data, calculations and estimates DayHatch shows; filing accurate and timely tax returns; keeping your own financial records; and consulting qualified professionals before acting on information from the app.
6. IRS rates and tax rules
The IRS mileage rates, tax brackets, self-employment tax rates and other rules used in DayHatch come from publicly available official sources (listed on our Sources page) and may not reflect the latest changes. Tax law changes often; always check current rates and rules at irs.gov or with a qualified professional.
7. Your data
Your records are stored on your device. DayHatch runs no server that receives your trips, earnings, expenses or receipts. The app goes online only to check, buy or restore Pro (through your app store and RevenueCat, which keeps an anonymous purchase ID); for Google Drive backup, if you sign in to your own Drive (it then backs up daily, which you can switch off); and for the detailed trip map, if you turn it on, which loads tiles from OpenStreetMap and so reveals the rough area of a trip to OpenStreetMap. Feedback is sent only by email, from your own email app. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. You are responsible for backing up your data. See the Privacy Policy.
8. Subscriptions
DayHatch has a free tier and an optional Pro subscription, billed through Google Play. A 14-day free trial is offered once per device, with no payment method needed to start it. When the trial or a subscription ends, Pro features turn off and the free tier keeps working; nothing is deleted. You can cancel any time in the store you subscribed in. Refunds follow that store’s refund policy.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DayHatch and its owners, developers and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses or expenses arising from your use of the app or your breach of these terms.
10. Acceptance
By downloading, installing or using DayHatch, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
